Free Education Support Program
Purpose and Objectives
Ensure children from low‑income and marginalized communities can access and continue formal education by removing cost and support barriers (fees, materials, tutoring).
Improve learning outcomes and reduce dropout rates through structured academic support, mentoring, and regular tracking of school performance.
Promote inclusive, holistic development by supporting curricular, co‑curricular, and life‑skills learning, not just exam preparation.
Target Beneficiaries
Children and adolescents from economically weaker families, including those living in rural areas, urban slums, and high‑risk communities (e.g., trafficking‑prone areas).
First‑generation learners whose parents have limited education and cannot provide academic guidance at home.
Students at risk of dropping out due to inability to pay fees, buy books, or access coaching and digital learning resources.
Core Educational Support Services
After‑school study classes where qualified teachers help with school subjects, homework, projects, exam preparation, and concept clarification.
Provision of free learning materials such as textbooks, notebooks, stationery, uniforms, and sometimes digital devices or connectivity where needed.
Academic tracking through regular follow‑up with schools, teachers, and families to monitor attendance, marks, and behavioral changes.
Financial and Scholarship Support
Payment of school fees, tuition charges, or exam fees for selected students who would otherwise drop out.
Scholarship facilitation for higher studies or professional courses by connecting eligible students to donor‑funded or government scholarship schemes.
Emergency educational support (e.g., books, uniforms, transport) to ensure continuity during crises or transitions.
Holistic Development and Mentoring
Life‑skills education covering communication, confidence building, decision‑making, health and hygiene, and basic financial awareness.
Co‑curricular and extracurricular encouragement (sports, arts, cultural activities) to support balanced growth and resilience.
Mentoring and guidance for older students on subject choices, career options, and navigating transitions to secondary, higher secondary, or college education.
Family and Community Engagement
Regular engagement with parents or guardians to share progress, emphasize the importance of consistent schooling, and address social pressures that lead to dropout.
Awareness sessions in communities on the value of education, especially for girls and marginalized groups.
Collaboration with schools, local NGOs, and government departments to align support with existing schemes like RTE, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, and scholarship programs.
Inclusion and Equity Measures
Focus on children from scheduled castes, tribes, minorities, and high‑risk or exploitation‑prone backgrounds to break cycles of poverty and vulnerability.
Special attention to girls’ education through targeted scholarships, residential or safe learning environments, and counselling to reduce early marriage and dropout.
Use of flexible timings, local learning center's, and bridge support to accommodate working children or those with irregular school attendance.
Expected Outcomes
Increased enrolment and retention in schools among supported children, with fewer dropouts due to financial or academic challenges.
Improved academic performance and transition rates from primary to secondary and higher education, particularly for marginalized groups.
Stronger family and community commitment to education as a pathway to long‑term empowerment and reduced vulnerability.
